When it comes to timber cladding, the choices can be overwhelming. Each type of timber has its unique characteristics and benefits, and choosing the right one for your project is crucial. At Brookridge Timber, we understand the importance of finding the perfect balance between aesthetics, durability, and sustainability. That’s why we’re excited to introduce you to our BrookClad Micronised Timber Cladding, a versatile and eco-friendly option that’s changing the game in the world of timber cladding.

Understanding BrookClad Micronised Timber Cladding

BrookClad Micronised Timber Cladding is available in two distinct grades, exclusively from Brookridge Timber Ltd. These grades offer a wide range of possibilities for your exterior timber cladding needs:

1. Unsorted Grade

Comparable in quality to Sawfalling (I-IV) Siberian Larch, our Unsorted Grade Scandinavian Redwood boasts a similar knot content and rate of growth. Historically favored by joiners for doors and windows, this grade is the perfect choice for exterior timber cladding due to its aesthetic appeal. However, it’s important to note that it is not naturally durable when used externally. To ensure longevity, we recommend pressure treatment with Microshades, which provides a 30-year warranty against insect attack and fungal decay. This timber species readily accepts treatment due to its low density and open grain.

2. Three/Four Side Clear

If you’re seeking an even clearer finish, our Three/Four Side Clear grade is comparable in quality to Canadian Cedar and Unsorted (I-III) Siberian Larch. In this grade, many pieces are virtually knot-free. The “A” face can contain up to four five-pence-piece-sized knots over a 4.5-meter length, while the two edges will be clear. This type of Scandinavian Redwood is traditionally used for cabinetry, sidings, and panelling because of its almost knot-free finish.

When used as timber cladding, combined with the Microshades treatment, the result is simply stunning. Like the Unsorted Grade, this timber is not naturally durable for external use and requires pressure treatment with Microshades to offer a 30-year warranty against insect attack and fungal decay. Thanks to its low density and open grain, it readily accepts treatment.

The Magic of Micronised Treatment

What sets BrookClad Micronised Timber Cladding apart is the Micronised Treatment process, a unique and patented method. This process micronises copper into a fine powder, which is then infused into the timber. Through pressure treatment, the copper micron penetrates the cells of the timber, providing exceptional protection against fungal decay and insect attack.

The Micronised Treatment process not only enhances the timber’s durability but also its natural beauty. This results in a uniform appearance with no patchy staining, making your cladding visually appealing and consistent.
